Open source software stability is much better and already allows any company today, whatever size it may have, to build its IT infrastructure on those tools. At operating system level, Linux covers today all basic business needs (firewall, web server, mail server, VPN server, router, ...). So, there is no need anymore to maintain internally heterogeneous systems, and therein really lie big cost savings over time. |
